How vain is man, who boasts in fight

I was reading John Capouya's biography of the great wrestler Gorgeous George, and I had a sudden bout of déjà vu—the appetite, the shameless show-biz sensibility, the clothes... where had I seen this before? Oh, yeah:

I am pretty tempted to put that on a t-shirt.

Definitely put it on a t-shirt.

Was George Frederich a homo like myself or was he just out there? Is there any consensus on this issue? Enquiring minds want to know.

Still no consensus, surprisingly enough—I thought after Ellen Harris's book the musicological world would be riled up enough to settle it once and for all. However, the tone seems to have switched from one side defensively insisting he was gay to the other side defensively insisting he wasn't. Progress, I suppose.

The National Enquirer is about to publish compromising photos of Handel engaging in sexual activities with Schubert. (I believe Gesualdo took the pictures with his Polaroid.) This should settle the issue once and for all.
