I think that rather than having a particular message that generates money for him, his views are strongly influenced by what he is seeing personally in a somewhat limited sphere.

Yes, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt here. I've met him - we had a great lunch together, talked and talked and could probably have talked for three days. He is a smart and interesting guy. I think he is wrong on the death of classical music, but I do think he cares about the art form. He's also a good composer. Check out "Quartet for Anne" on his personal web site. I wish someone would a piece that good for me.Lisa Hirschhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14014924958428072675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32354680.post-58647572683460996702007-09-13T23:22:00.000-04:002007-09-13T23:22:00.000-04:00or is he just interested in trashing concert music...or is he just interested in trashing concert music and concertgoers?

There's that and also: make money by telling orchestras that classical music is dying and if they just have enough 20-Something Cocktail Nights, they'll both boost attendance in the short term AND build audiences for those Birtwistle > Bartok > Stravinsky evenings.

I simply don't get why he's taken seriously at all.Henry Hollandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15871451112170286316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32354680.post-80190789848717449872007-09-13T20:27:00.000-04:002007-09-13T20:27:00.000-04:00Ahahah.Ahahah.Lisa Hirschhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14014924958428072675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32354680.post-60497362819797438822007-09-13T14:57:00.000-04:002007-09-13T14:57:00.000-04:00There's one particular word that Greg Sandow shoul...There's one particular word that Greg Sandow should be discouraged from using: "why."Ear Trumpethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08875585330510727543noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32354680.post-91387385403056879952007-09-13T10:58:00.000-04:002007-09-13T10:58:00.000-04:00in Don Carlo he shows us the Spanish royal court a...in Don Carlo he shows us the Spanish royal court as the 19th century might have imagined it...
